Performance Review of Games Launched In February 2026

February 2026: From RPGs to AAA, from survival horrors to racing games and much more, a lot of games were released in February 2026. And although it is possible to launch as many games in a month as the developers like, their performance meter depends on the audience. Not every game is a success, but not all games are flops either. Some also lie in the center. So, let us find out together which February 2026 released game was a hit, which wasn’t, and which one had an average performance among its players and critics.

Best performing games of February 2026

Resident Evil Requiem

The fastest selling game in the Resident Evil franchise. Requiem sold over 5 million copies within the first 5 days of its launch. This also makes it one of the biggest games of the year yet. Did this happen because of its AAA charm? Definitely. But that was not the only thing that worked here. The Leon S. Kennedy character also added to the charm quotient, making players like one of the two protagonists a lot.

Resident Evil

The game did have its own set of flaws, but they weren’t as big as its positive elements. The mix of horror with action worked pretty well with the audience and critics. Although many people complained it had more emphasis on the horror part, while the action sequence that takes place mostly in the second half of the game lacked depth. But Resident Evil Requiem still effortlessly managed to become the best game of the month and the biggest opener of the year till date.

Mewgenics

A unique game that also featured ‘cats’ as its central character, Mewgenics is a roguelike game that did pretty well on Steam. By selling roughly 1.7 million units of games, Mewgenics has become the number one selling game on Steam for the month of February 2026. The game made a huge buzz online. That’s because the army that fights the villain in Mewgenics includes cats and only cats. The Cat Lady or the protagonist, breed cats to create stronger generations. While r. Thomas A. Beanies, who was initially the main part of this cat breeding business, is now against this experiment and takes place as the antagonist of the game. What players and critics liked the most about this cat fighting game was its replay value.

Mewgenics

In this single-player game, battles occur on procedurally generated grid maps with an isometric perspective. Players control a team of cats with different classes, including mage, hunter, tank, fighter. Whichever class they like to pick because each cat has stats, abilities, and equipment to fight the battle. On one hand, the cats in Mewgenics inherit traits, mutations, and diseases from their parents. On the other hand, they get injuries and experiences from battles that affect their future generations. So, combat has to be strategically fought.

Nioh 3

We have talked about the games that have been the biggest opener of the year till date, the bestsellers on the Steam gaming platform, but we haven’t talked yet about the one that received maximum positive reviews from both the audience and critics. Well, that game is none other than Nioh 3. The game received a solid 9/10 rating on most gaming platforms and also received a lot of praise from the critics for its open-field exploration and refined combat. One of the major reasons, according to sources, that helped Nioh 3 in becoming the best rated game of February 2026 was its franchise fan base that has been following the journey of the game since day 1.

Nioh 3

According to these same people, the 3rd installment of Nioh has also done a lot of improvement from its first 2 games that positive reaction from everyone was meant to be. The mechanics and world design did a lot better than the previously released games. The Japanese history, supernatural elements, time-travel mechanics, Soulslike combat, supernatural mythology, and much more, the game is truly infused with so much to discover and enjoy.

Mario Tennis Fever

There’s hardly anything that our childhood friend Mario cannot do. Like playing tennis in Mario Tennis Fever on Nintendo Switch. Launched exclusively for Nintendo, Mario Tennis Fever did exceptionally well on the platform majorly because of its family-oriented nature.

While the Fever Rackets and Fever Shots were also some of the major elements that were talked about in the game and attracted multiple players globally. But the one thing that brought in maximum players globally was the ‘Mario’ brand. Everything else came later on to bring it onto the hit list of February 2026 games.

Games that couldn’t leave their mark in February 2026

Dark Auction

Released late in January on the 29th, Dark Auction has been one of the weakest performing games of February 2026. The mystery cum adventure game is also called visual novel for its storytelling and gameplay. But these two were the exact parts where it failed to perform, according to the critics. The game surely had a unique gameplay, but it was not properly worked upon.

Dark Auction

According to the critics, the music and art direction were also worth appreciating, along with its character writing. But the outdated 3d graphics and poor presentation of the game ensured the entire gameplay went down with it. All these reasons made Dark Auction a game that missed a huge opportunity to perform well and instead made it one of the weakest games of the month.

Average performing games launched in February 2026

Avowed

If we talk about Avowed, one of the promising games of February 2026, the game had no problem internally that landed it in the average performing games of the month. Instead, it has everything that is required for a game to be a success. A rich world to explore, strong characters and impeccable story writing, a combat system that is both flexible and magical. Although it also has its fair share of flaws, including technical issues and the absence of multiple enemies.

But these weren’t the areas where the game was exactly reviewed for. Avowed still became an average performing title because of its average sales. While this shouldn’t be the only reason to measure a game’s success, we live in a commercial world. And if something doesn’t work well commercially, it is considered average or poor based on its sales. And that is exactly what has happened with Avowed.

Styx: Blades of Greed

A game that could have done better and landed on the best game of the month. Only if its technical parts had been taken care of. Styx: Blades of Greed has a deep stealth gameplay that was liked by the critics and loved by stealth game lovers worldwide. The game still received 75% favorable votes and performed moderately because the storyline was weak and not polished at all.

Styx: Blades of Greed

People also complained about a lot of clanky movements, technical issues and parts of the game that felt like AI. The stealth combat gameplay of Styx: Blades of Greed was the only part that was fighting against all these issues and fought hard enough not to allow the game to fall into the list of worst performing games of the month.

High on Life 2

A blend of humor, shooting, sci-fi, and chaotic gameplay, High on Life 2 has been one of the funniest games of the month. The story of the game includes humor and that has players in splits while playing it. The game’s missions with a lot of puzzles and hunts were creative and interesting too. All this and the fan base from the previous part brought in a lot of players for High on Life 2.

High on Life 2

But not everyone found its humor worth it. The game also had weak combat style and technical issues. These small but important points became turning points in the game’s reviews. And many people didn’t like the game due to these. High on Life 2 still did pretty well with critics and its fan base, earning the average performing game’s tag for February 2026.

Ride 6

If we have to look at the games that performed well within their genres and don’t care about mainstream hits, Ride 6 could be one of the best performing games of February 2026. But since it has been able to impress only its motorcycle racing community, that is pretty small compared to communities of other game genres, the game was only able to perform moderately with the audience.

Parts where the game received maximum success included the use of realistic cycling physics with an improved handling system, availability of over 250+ motorcycles, improved gaming graphics, and pleasant weather for riding a bicycle. But being very niche specific, with some technical issues, and no innovation, it also brought in some critical reviews. All this ultimately made Ride 6 one of the average performing games of the month.
