And now is the time to review how Ghost of Yōtei has performed and received reviews from critics and players worldwide. We will be discussing its pros, cons, and have a look at its performance meter as well. So, continue reading to find out how the game has performed so far.

Ghost of Yōtei review: Things that pleased the audience a lot

Amazing, narrative-driven storyline

One of the major reasons why gamers like a game is because of a compelling narrative and strong storyline. And Ghost of Yōtei has effortlessly provided that. Placing exciting twists in the storyline exactly where it was needed, increased the depth in the game. This not only kept the gamers’ excitement intact, as they were wondering what might happen next, but also kept the thrill intact.

With a better pace of gaming, the game was also exciting to play as it had a lot of Japanese cultural elements that were new to the audience. With urban legends and spiritual energies, the game kept the revenge feeling steady and its unpredictably intact throughout the story. This is what gamers have loved the most about Ghost of Yōtei.

Characters with strong personality

Although there were a section of people who didn’t like the female protagonist in the game, the masses didn’t care about gender. What they really cared about was Atsu’s vengeful emotions that wanted revenge for her family’s murder by Yōtei Six.

And not just Atsu, but the villain characters, Yōtei Six and Lord Saito, were equally good. After all, a good hero needs a good opponent so they can show their full power and strength to defeat them. Only then do they become the rightful protagonist.

These characters, along with the supporting characters like Jubei and Oyuki, not only played their parts properly and narrated the story beautifully. But they also kept the storyline going smoothly, expressing all the emotions beautifully (through their voiceovers), which helped in understanding the character’s state of mind easily.

Better combat styles and enhanced gameplay elements

Being a sequel, Ghost of Yōtei had a lot of responsibility on its shoulders to be better than its predecessor. And it did quite a good job with that. The game not only had better combat styles than Ghost of Tsushima, it also introduced traditional Japanese melee weapons in the game. These weapons include the yari, kusarigama, and odachi, along with the katana (and dual katana).

Not to mention, the idea of allowing the player to practice combat with a new weapon whenever they get them was also unique. It helped the player with these new weapons more efficiently and confidently.

Refined graphics, amazing music, and stunning atmosphere

The game is set in the region of Ezo that has been inspired by northern Japan. Basically, the gameplay is taking place in Japan, a country that has breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. So, this factor not only enhanced the visuals of the game, it also made it very scenic with all of its weeping fields, winter tundras, and aurora phenomena.

Apart from the landscape exploration that the game provides, the game also has different types of music to match with different situations. This gave the game more depth and helped gamers to connect with its storyline a lot more deeply.

Ghost of Yōtei review: Things that could have been better

Feels a bit repetitive sometimes

According to players globally, the game feels a bit repetitive sometimes given the fact that it is a sequel. Not only does the combat feel similar to Ghost of Tsushima, but the side quests are also a bit stretched, making the game feel a bit boring and monotonous at places. One has to stay focused and dedicated to ensure they don’t give up during these instances and keep up with the pace of the game to complete it.

Not exactly any new invention in the sequel

According to sources, the game also doesn’t feel like a sequel. Many elements match with its predecessor called Ghost of Tsushima. The game had all the refined elements of everything that its predecessor already has. No new invention or idea has been introduced exactly except for a different storyline. Those who have played only Ghost of Yōtei and not Ghost of Tsushima are finding it completely new. But those who have played them both, found the sequel a bit the same as the original game.

Ghost of Yōtei Review: The final verdict and performance meter!

The Ghost of Yōtei is definitely a game one should try. It has many new elements, a compelling storyline, amazing graphics, refined combats, and much more. Although the game also has some areas where it could have been better, that doesn’t make it unworthy of playing.
