Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a third-person RPG game whose story unfolds in a Belle Époque–inspired world. The central character of the game, Gustave, is on a mission to confront a mysterious entity called Paintress. Gustave is after him as the Paintress is responsible for an age-erasing ritual called the Gommage.

The enemy can dodge, parry, or jump to keep you occupied in the combat he doesn’t want you to win. As the central character, you have the opportunity to offer counterattacks and stun the enemies temporarily through strategic advantage.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had art elements in it that were crashing occasionally out of the blue, giving gamers a sudden shock and dividing their attention from the game.  Apart from that, the game also had other problems, including:

  • Lack of mini-maps for user convenience. No navigation aid made it difficult for the players to find their way in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
  • During combat sessions, some interface and logistical decisions showed friction in the game, which felt like an anxiety-inducing mode for the players.
  • The game also experienced technical glitches and presentation shortcomings with rough edges in the gameplay, making it sometimes a turn-off for the player.
