Rockstar Games: When the release date of a new game approaches, a lot of noise surrounds it. And when the game is as highly anticipated as GTA VI, then all the buzz surrounding it gets justified automatically.
Rockstar Games has made news again for its most loved creation ever, i.e., the Grand Theft Auto series. But the news is neither gossip nor rumors. Rather, it is a heartfelt plea from a GTA fan who wants to play the game through early access.
A heartfelt plea to Rockstar Games that melted the entire internet!
Recently, a post has gone viral that was published on LinkedIn weeks ago. The post went viral a little later than it was initially published. But once it got viral, it took the internet through a storm for all the right reasons.
Yesterday, on X (formerly Twitter), a story was shared about how Rockstar Games have granted early access to a fan who is battling cancer and has 6–12 months to live.
Getting back to the original post from the fan, in December 2025, Anthony Armstrong, a UI integrator at Ubisoft Toronto, wrote on LinkedIn that a member of his family has been battling cancer for years that has now worsened.
Quoting from the original post from X;
To any of my connections at Rockstar Games and Rockstar Toronto, or anyone else that may be able to help. A member of my family who has been battling cancer for years just recently got the worst possible news, he was given 6-12 months to live.
The reason I’m reaching out is that they are a huge GTA fan and, with this latest updates, he may not be around long enough to actually get to see GTA6 launch, best case scenario he will be leaving us the same month it does. He currently lives only a stones throw from the Oakville studio, so its my hope that one of you may be able to set up an exclusive playtest, so he can have a chance to experience the game, before passing.
I absolutely understand the need for secrecy at this point of development, so at the very least an NDA is probably needed. If anyone could send me a private massage about this or provide any contact who could point us in the right direction, please.

After finding out about this story, everyone wanted to know if Rockstar Games replied to the person and how things went ahead.
As we all know, the power of social media. And that power worked in this case as well. That’s because the person was reached out by the CEO of Take-Two, Rockstar Games’s sister company. Here’s what happened next.

**Final Update: We spoke to them today and got great news. Thats all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart**
The post was then deleted by the original creator citing legal NDA action from the developers of the game. But, like we said, social media are a magical place. People took a screenshot of the original posts, and then it went viral all over the internet. It further sparked online debates and discussions.

They say every story has 3 sides, yours, mine, and the truth. Although we do not know what the exact truth is. But we surely know what 2 sides have been created online after this incident.
Fans have been divided in discussions, majorly under 2 parts. According to Reddit reviews, one part of the fans are all emotional after finding out the story and happy that Rockstar Games took the right action swiftly.
But, there’s also a section of people who are claiming all this to be a staged performance. According to them, GTA VI, being the highest anticipated game in history, is doing great PR to keep up with the buzz. With the launch date of GTA VI approaching soon, developers are doing all that they can to keep the game trending all the time.
